Project Description:

The project comprised of improvements to four sections along existing National Cycle Network (Route 78). The project extended over approximately 29Km and consists of the construction of a 2.5m to 3m wide cycle track along the A828 road verge (3.6Km), dismantled railway line (1.5Km) and existing carriageways of local or disused road (14.5Km).
The works also included for the installation of 1.1Km of surface water drainage, three timber bridges, three retaining structures adjacent to A828, rock bolting, rock scaling, costal rock armour installation and five road crossings. The activities involved included road excavation, pavement overlay and construction, road kerb construction, drainage, bus shelter relocations, service diversions, traffic signage, road marking and traffic management.
