Project Description:

This project was the first package in the upgrading of all Train Stations along the Belfast-Dublin and Dublin-Galway lines to provide improved accessibility to all station areas together with a number of station enhancements including the provision of CCTV, PA, fire and intruder alarms. Package A involved the upgrading of Tullamore, Ballinalsoe, Woodlawn and Attymon Stations.

The primary objective of this project was to render the four stations ( Attymon, Woodlawn, Tullamore & Ballinasloe) accessible to mobility and visually impaired customers in compliance with the relevant legislation and appropriate standards, guides and codes of practice.

The secondary objective was to carry out other enhancement works to the stations at the same time as the planned accessibility work in order to ensure that construction works are co-ordinated; cost efficiencies in design, tender and construction are achieved; abortive work is avoided and passenger disruption is minimised.  The enhancement works include the provision of CCTV, fire alarms, intruder alarms, expansion of telecom infrastructure and the installation of new signage.
